Isle of Man Railways – Family Fun Weekend

Last weekend (8th and 9th September) saw Isle of Man Railways second Family Fun Weekend, and the first to be hosted by the Railways new mascot ‘Cushag the Cat’ (Cushag is also the name of the Manx National flower).

The rain held off over the weekend and Douglas Steam Railway Station was once again a hub of activity, with families enjoying a great selection of rides, slides and games. To help raise money for local charity Junior Achievement, Isle of Man Railways were offering free rides on the Wicked Wickham, open wagons and vintage bus, with collection buckets available on the station platform.

Children were also entertained by circus performers and there was a marquee filled with stalls, face painters and tables and chairs so children could colour in pictures of their favourite railway loco, vintage bus or Cushag the Cat.

Cushag was a big hit with kids and is looking forward to next year’s Family Fun Weekend and seeing many of his new friends again.
