Bonnag World Championship titles decided on island
Dozens of bakers entered the competition in Dalby
Dozens of bakers have competed in the World Bonnag Championships in the Isle of Man.
Bonnag, a traditional sweet bread, is thought to have been a Manx staple for hundreds of years.
Anne Quirk claimed the best in show along with the ladies title whilst Ben Akwal claimed the men’s prize.
The event had been scheduled for March but had to be postponed after the island was hit by the worst snowfall for 50 years.
The championships were held at the St James schoolrooms in Dalby.
Proceeds from the event will be handed over to the Agricultural Benevolent Fund which helps farmers affected by animal losses during March’s extreme weather.
