Roy Cottage is located on Douglas Street, a quiet street in Castletown, with views over both Castletown Bay and Derbyhaven.Castletown is situated in the south of the Isle of Man, 10 miles from Douglas and the ferry terminal. The island’s airport is only a mile away and transport links with buses and steam trains for day trips are excellent.

Roy Cottage is conveniently placed. It is a very easy five-minute walk to historic Castletown. The town has a distinctive charm with many historical sites, good local amenities, shops, restaurants and pubs (including the famous ‘Glue Pot’ inn), as well as a magnificent castle.

Roy Cottage is also within easy access to beautiful countryside surrounding Castletown and the beaches of Derbyhaven, Scarlett and Langness.

From the Airport

By Car

It takes around 4 min (1.1 miles) via A5

  • Head southwest for 0.2 miles.
  • At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto A5. Continue for 0.6 miles.
  • At the roundabout, continue straight onto Bowling Green Road for 0.2 miles.
  • Continue onto Douglas Street.
  • Roy Cottage is located on the right at 7 Douglas St.

By Taxi

There is a Taxi rank situated outside the Airport.

By Bus

There is a 20 minute daytime frequency service between Douglas and the Airport with buses continuing to Castletown.

The bus stop is five minutes walk from the cottage.

On Foot

Walking takes around 20 minutes (1.1 miles) via A5. It is mostly flat.

From the Ferry

Sea Terminal, Imperial Buildings, Bath Place, Douglas IM1 2BY, United Kingdom

By Car

It takes around 20 min (9.8 miles)  via A5

  • Take Old Castletown Rd and Kewaigue Hill to New Castletown Rd/A5  for 2.2 miles.
  • Follow A5 to Bowling Green Rd in Castletown for 7.3 miles.
  • Continue on Bowling Green Rd. Drive to Douglas St for 0.2 miles.
  • Continue onto Douglas Street.
  • Roy Cottage is located on the right at 7 Douglas St.

By Taxi

There is a Taxi rank situated at the front of the Sea Terminal.

By Bus

Douglas Bus Station is located on Lord Street, 400m from the Sea Terminal, and is a few minutes walk. Bus services on the Island are provided by Bus Vannin and cover all the main population areas. There is a 20 minute daytime frequency service between Douglas and the Airport with buses continuing to Castletown.

The bus stop is five minutes walk from the cottage.

By Steam Train

Arrive in style! The Steam Railway runs from Douglas Station (near the top of the Harbour) to Castletown. Multi-journey tickets can be purchased at the Welcome Centre in Douglas, Sea Terminal,  the railway station and many post offices and newsagents.

Good Location

Just a short walk to local shops, pubs and restaurants. Can also walk to train station for trains to Douglas, Port Erin etc.
